April 19, 2019 – St. Patrick’s Cemetery Walk Planned

As published in the April 17, 2019 Winterset Madisonian

Dear Publisher:

For a number of years, a very active group of members of the Madison County Genealogical Society has “walked” all of the county cemeteries to gather up-to-date genealogical information (stone locations, names, dates, etc.) to file at the Winterset Public Library and Madison County Historical Museum. These records need to be kept current.

Some of our members are no longer able to be actively involved in these walks. All of our county cemeteries have been walked, and need to be updated with current data. No special experience is needed – just the ability to read and copy information for our files/records. This is just one of the many projects we have done.

St. Patrick’s Church on National Register of Historic Places

We will have a Cemetery Walk at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Cemetery, in southeast Lee Township on Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The location is north of Bevington at 155th Street and Warren/Madison Avenue. Please meet at the cemetery and volunteer was much time as you can. Please bring your own lunch. You do not need to be a member to volunteer to help.

More opportunities like this will be available in the future. All ages may participate.
Thank you!
Michael J. Mahan, Madison County Genealogical Society
