June 5 – Glenn Martin of Macksburg – Aviator and Entrepreneur
JoAnne Walker, local genealogical researcher, will share her work investigating Glenn Martin (1886-1955) who was born in Macksburg and appears on Madison County’s Freedom Rock. JoAnne will share photos and stories from his adventurous life that included working with the Wright Brothers, barnstorming, designing the Martin Bomber that helped win WWII, and creating corporations that still exist today – Lockhead-Martin and Martin-Marietta.
This program will be held at the Winterset Public Library (123 N. 2nd St) and is free and open to the public. After a short break, the MCGS business meeting will be conducted for those who care to stay.
