Madison County Fair Exhibit
The Madison County Genealogical Society proudly participates in the annual Madison County Fair each July under the direction of the Fair Board. You will find us set up in the air-conditioned kitchen of the Jackson Building.
2020 Fair Dates: Wednesday, July 15 through Sunday, July 19
To assist you with preparing your entries, a special County Fair prep meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 7, at 7:00 pm, at the Winterset Public Library meeting room. It’s very informal. Bring some or all of your possible entries and we will help you categorize them and prepare the required 3×5 card of information for judging.
We accept entries on uesday evening (July 14) and Wednesday morning. Judging takes place on Wednesday afternoon. To enter items, please review the categories and rules below. Bring one, bring a few, or bring a bunch. There is a charge of $.50 per item. Prize money is based on position within a category: First place is awarded a blue ribbon and $2, second place is awarded a red ribbon and $1.50, and third place is awarded a white ribbon and $1. One item is selected “Best of Show” and receives $3.00.
All entries remain on display until the Fair’s end on Sunday, when they must be retrieved by their owners. Time for entries to be picked up on Sunday has not yet been determined. Last year’s early pick up due to RAGBRAI was more popular than expected. So stay tuned.
